up to date Sunday service information

St Mags is a friendly church in the heart of Torquay that welcomes people from all walks of life. We would love to welcome you either on Sunday or during the week. On Sunday we meet at 9am and 11am.

We meet together on Sundays to encourage each other and to encounter the living God. We are a church that is made up of many different families that all belong together.

We value the traditional and the contemporary and are trying to build up both.

The 9am first service is a more traditional communion service

The 11am second service is an informal and contemporary gathering with extended worship led by the band.

At both services the preaching and mission are the same, we are one family.

Everyone is welcome to join us and you will receive a warm welcome and good hospitality at whichever service you visit.

9am Quiet Traditional Communion

This a quiet traditional Anglican communion service with a relaxed feel.

We have moved from being a small congregation meeting in the side chapel to a group of 30-40 meeting in the main body of the church. using the full liturgy from common worship every week and where the clergy always robe. We have musical worship at each service with a more traditional song and hymn choice. It is a warm, friendly and growing congregation.

We hope and pray that this service will continue to grow so that one day soon we will fill both sides of the nave.

You are very welcome to join us for the service and good refreshments after the service.

11am Informal Worship

We gather at 11am for informal worship that is contemporary in style and caters for all ages. There is full provision for children and youth work. We have a constant stream of new people at this service and the welcome is wonderful.

As we meet we hope to:

  • Encourage one another in following Jesus
  • Worship Jesus
  • Learn together as we look at the Bible
  • Be empowered by his Holy Spirit

The style is informal and accessible with many people participating. The worship is mostly led by one of our bands and we draw on other styles where it's helpful.

There are groups for the Children and Youth each week led by experienced and committed leaders (all DBS checked). On the third Sunday we have an All Age service where the whole church family stays in the service together.

After the service good coffee is served and the welcome is even better.

There are always members of our prayer team who would love to pray with you about anything, including prayer for healing.
